July 20, 2020:
Greetings Faith Families!
We hope you are enjoying your summer, and that you and your child have already talked about school and the fun days of learning and discovery ahead.
We have been unsure what school would look like this fall with all of the required changes, but we have been busy preparing and looking forward to returning to school with all of our students. What we always know for certain is that our goal is to make sure your children are safe, loved and educated. Now more than ever, we must get the intersection of equity, high-quality curriculum, and social-emotional learning right. We also know that ‘right’ looks different for every child, and it requires great teachers to make that happen. That is why it is just as important that our teachers feel safe at school.
Teachers are often expected to be superhuman, but we’re not; we have families and elderly relatives just like you. Recently, all of our teachers expressed concerns, some choosing to leave Faith and/or retire due to the now increasing cases of Coronavirus in our area. At the same time, we received a combination of growing concerns from families about the health and safety of children at school, but also an increase in calls from families that are looking for a traditional school like Faith due to closure or limits on enrollment from other preschool programs. Therefore, in an attempt to meet the needs of our teachers and families, and keep Faith strong and open for the service of the community, we have determined it would be best to begin our school year online with an official start date of August 31st, and classes with curriculum starting after the Labor Day Weekend on September 8th, 2020.
There is still much to discuss in preparation. We have lots of big ideas with details to follow, as we prepare age appropriate time for online daily group sessions, individual meetings one on one with a teacher, and providing the materials for each child to work with at home until we can all safely return to the classroom with confidence. We will be revisiting often how best and quickly we can phase back in to in person learning, and can’t wait to be back at school with our students, as soon as everyone feels safe.
We thank you for your patience and continued support as we make these preparations in what we hope you will agree is in the best interest of Faith Preschool, and more importantly the families we wish to continue to serve.
An invitation to our virtual Parent’s Meeting will be forthcoming.
May 23, 2020:
Our school year has only just officially ended, but we at Faith Preschool are already optimistically looking ahead to once again providing education through fun for the 2020-21 school year. We have always held the health, safety, and security of our students and families in highest regard which is why while K-12 schools have not yet been given guidelines by the state to reopen, we are proceeding with the guidelines for the reopening of daycares to prepare for that day.
Our cleaning company will be performing a deep clean and an EPA approved enviro-shield disinfecting spray of all rooms in July. They will also continue their daily rigorous cleaning through the school year starting our first day back.
Among the new stricter guidelines of daily room, equipment, and toy cleaning, masks and gloves required for teachers especially when serving food, room and child/staff ratio reductions, we will be adopting several new policies.
We are planning how to take the temperature of all staff and children upon entrance. Anyone with a fever of 100 degrees or higher will be sent home.
We are planning for changes in our drop off and pick up routines to make social distancing easier.
We will be increasing diligence of our already rigorous hand washing routines. All children must wash their hands before class, several times during the day, and before leaving for home.
We hope that these new procedures will ensure your confidence in our care for your child and continue to help you feel safe sending your child to Faith. We will continue to provide information and any other changes on our COVID -19 news and updates webpage as we know more and move forward through the summer.
Please note: child:staff ratios have decreased dramatically under the new state guidelines with the 3 year old class now 6:1 and the 4 and 5 year old classes at 9:1. We encourage interested new families not to wait, but to call now with interest as space will be limited with the number of rooms and teachers we have available.
March 13, 2020:
Dear Faith Families,
After much consideration and conversation with the preschool board and its teachers, we have decided to be consistent with our policy to join surrounding districts in complying with the order from Governor Mike DeWine that all K-12 close for the next three weeks, and closing Monday as well. As always, the health and wellness of our students, caregivers, and teachers is our top priority at Faith. We understand the growing concerns about COVID-19, and are dedicated to continue taking every necessary precaution. We do encourage you to please take this time at home to wash all book bags, spray or wipe down any unwashable surfaces, and continue with proper nutrition, hydration and hygiene as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control. Additionally, the teachers and I are already discussing options and plans for moving forward should any new changes arise in this fluid climate for after the April 3rd end date. We are already missing you, and look forward to be able to return to a normal routine on April 6th. ❤
